pink, what an intimidating color to say i love you to? it bears too many stereotypical definitions i don’t want to be labeled on and to give out with wrong expectations.
but for this one very healthy, happiness / fiber / vitamin-c fully loaded smoothie recipe, i want to give it a green light, for the genuine love of natural seasonal flavors, the celebration of experimental spirits, and the simplest joy the blend brings when it hits the taste bud.
and now, pink is innocent. pink is free.
may we all be free from idiotic ideologies.
very pink blood orange pineapple ginger-ish smoothie
inspired by the ginger pineapple smoothie i had at cafe pasqual’s, santa fe back in 2012
(yes, i still remember how delicious it was!)
makes one serving of 8 oz smoothie
ingredients
blood orange - 1
pineapple, cubed - 1 cup
(you can also use frozen pineapple cubes!)
ginger, grated - 1/2 tbsp, or to taste
(i personally don’t mind a lot of it)
honey - to taste
step by step
with a sharp knife, trim the blood orange’s ends. then put its flat side on the table, and slice off the rind. you’ll get a whole, peel-less blood orange.
in the blender, put in the blood orange and all other ingredients. blend until smooth. then tadaaa!
if you use frozen pineapple cubes, you might need to add a bit of water for blending.
